Jessee Altman, school psychologist at Cedar Trails Exploration Center – Early Childhood, was honored on April 24, 2026, with the Making a Difference Award for her outstanding contributions to the district. This award, sponsored by the USD 232 Education Foundation in partnership with Great American Bank, recognizes educators and staff who go above and beyond to positively impact the lives of our students, families, and staff.

Jessee was nominated by four colleagues for her vital role in ensuring young learners and their families experience a smooth entrance into preschool. One nominator shared,

"Jessee plays a critical role in supporting the transition of hundreds of students into our district, ensuring families feel welcomed and supported from the very beginning. Her expertise, compassion, and commitment to students make a meaningful difference for both families and staff."

Her colleagues consistently describe her as someone who goes above and beyond, managing a demanding workload with remarkable organization, professionalism, and heart. Another nominator emphasized the magnitude of her contributions, stating,

"To watch Jessee handle all that she does and keep it all organized is inspiring. She does double the evaluations that a psych may do at other levels due to the nature of early childhood, and yet she manages to check every box which allows us to always stay compliant."

Because of Jessee’s extensive expertise in school psychology, special education and early childhood, her compassion and professionalism make her an invaluable asset to the district. She is known for delivering difficult news with exceptional skill, speaking with true empathy and in parent‑friendly ways that leave families feeling informed and heard. Teachers and other staff consistently learn from her, and colleagues are able to confidently rely on her to serve as an administrative designee in any meeting or situation.

In recognition of her dedication, Jessee received $300 from the USD 232 Education Foundation through its partnership with Great American Bank, along with a handcrafted award designed by students in the CTEC CAPS program.

Jessee’s compassion, expertise, and commitment to student support represent what the Making a Difference Award is all about. Her influence extends far beyond her role, enriching children’s lives and elevating the work of the entire team.
