Heidi Yosick, student nutrition manager at Mill Creek Middle School, was honored on October 21, 2026, with the Making a Difference Award. This award, sponsored by the USD 232 Education Foundation in partnership with Great American Bank, recognizes educators and staff who go above and beyond to positively impact the lives of our students, families, and staff.

Heidi was nominated by a grateful Mill Creek parent. After their student was diagnosed with a severe dietary allergy, Heidi diligently and compassionately worked with the family and student to fit school meals to their specific needs, relieving the family’s worry and anxiety.

The parent wrote in the nomination:

“I cannot even begin to put into words how much of a difference Heidi has made in my child’s life. We came into the first day of school knowing what happened in the lunch room was either going to make middle school a success or a disaster for them, and there was no middle ground. We communicated with her and others in the building just how big of a deal the lunch situation was and how much anxiety this was causing. She met the moment in a way we never imagined possible. We are SO appreciative of the Mill Creek Lunch room team and thankful for Heidi.”

In recognition of her care and support, Heidi received $300 from the USD 232 Education Foundation through its partnership with Great American Bank, along with a handcrafted award designed by students in the CTEC CAPS program.
