Andrew Gloshen Recognized with Making a Difference Award
Andrew Gloshen, special services coordinator, has been honored with the Making a Difference Award for October 2025. This award, sponsored by the USD 232 Education Foundation in partnership with Great American Bank, celebrates educators and staff who go above and beyond to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives.
Andrew was nominated by a grateful parent who shared the tremendous impact he has had on their child. While supporting the student’s IEP across two schools, Andrew has become the steady, reliable force ensuring that the student’s unique needs are met every single day.
Navigating two school environments could have been overwhelming. But with Andrew’s careful coordination, consistent communication, and deep understanding of the student, the transition has been seamless. Andrew worked closely with both buildings to design a schedule that supports the student’s growth — three days at one school and two days at another — and then took the lead in partnering with First Student to ensure transportation was arranged safely and efficiently. Beyond logistics, he has invested time in truly getting to know the student, building trust, and ensuring they feel supported in every setting.
The parent shared that because of Andrew’s efforts, their child thrives at school. They feel included not only in the classroom but also in extracurricular activities, and their enthusiasm for school is a direct reflection of Andrew’s dedication. They emphasized that he has consistently made sure their child is understood, supported, and valued.
In their nomination, the parent wrote,
“Andrew has been the driving force of the IEP team for my child. He has navigated not just an IEP, but an IEP between two schools. He is the liaison between the two schools, the classrooms, and the family. Mr. Gloshen has taken the time to know my child and understands their unique needs. He deserves this award for going above and beyond his job requirements.”
In recognition of his dedication, Andrew received $300 from the USD 232 Education Foundation through its partnership with Great American Bank, along with a handcrafted award designed by students in the CTEC CAPS program.
Andrew’s advocacy and unwavering commitment to student success reflect the very spirit of the Making a Difference Award. His dedication not only strengthens the connection between home and school but also creates the conditions for every student to learn, grow, and thrive.
