2025 Giving Circle Winner: Bike Safety & Rules of the Road Project

With three great programs and presentations to choose from, this year’s USD 232 Education Foundation Community Giving Circle Grant, in the amount of $10,000, was awarded to the “Bike Safety and Rules of the Road” project.

Members of the Community Giving Circle each contributed $100 to attend this year’s Giving Circle event, held on Monday, April 14, at Cause Coffee.  Here, participants had the opportunity to hear three different grant proposals which included:

  • Exploring Entrepreneurship from Mill Valley High School

  • USD 232 Robotics Trailer

  • Bike Safety and Rules of the Road

Giving Circle participants then voted to help decide which of the three proposals presented would receive the pooled $10,000 grant for their project. At the end of the evening, “Bike Safety and Rules of the Road” project was named the winner. Members of the Community Giving Circle were invited to help surprise the presenting educators at their corresponding school with a $10,000 check on Tuesday morning, April 15.

Physical education teachers Sammi Morrison (Prairie Ridge Elementary) and Corrin Weaver (Clear Creek Elementary) provided those in attendance at this year’s Giving Circle with compelling reasons why their grant proposal should be chosen. The project has the potential to impact nearly 3,000 students across all seven elementary schools in USD 232.  The equipment will be used for a two-week program, incorporated in the physical education programs at elementary schools throughout the district, to give students proper instruction for bike safety and operation.

With the acquisition of new scooters, balance bikes, and helmets using the awarded grant funds, a district-wide program can now be implemented that will allow all students to participate in bike safety education, no matter their school or grade level. The new equipment will be transported by USD 232 facilities staff which will allow physical education to share this equipment between buildings.

Congratulations to Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. Weaver for their winning presentation! The USD 232 Education Foundation is thankful for all Community Giving Circle Members who participated in this year’s event. The support of our community helps strengthen our commitment to enhancing educational excellence in USD 232.
